Tempered Joy

My joy at witnessing the election of Barack Obama as President was tempered when I found out that Proposition 8, which makes same-sex marriages illegal in California, had passed. This was certainly a day when we saw great progress in the way some minorities are treated, but it was also a stark reminder of how much work we still have to do.

In addition to Obama's election, another milestone of the day took place in New Hampshire. NH became the first state in the United States to have a female majority in the state senate. For more information about the state election in New Hampshire, Click Here
